PGPM
The flagship course of ASB is a two year full time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), enriched with a combination of contemporary conceptual and industry practices, driven by faculty with an eclectic mix of industry and teaching experience.
ASB believes in preparing participants for a career rather than for a job. Therefore we do not artificially break up the course into narrow specialisations.
The ASB PGPM follows the Semester pattern. The focus is on developing well rounded professionals who can not only manage the business of today but also create the venture of tomorrow. The first two semesters are dedicated to exposing participants to the basics of management. The remaining two semesters help students develop capabilities in specific areas in greater depth. In between they undergo 8 weeks of summer internship.
Curriculum and Pedagogy rest on the following premises:
- ASB can be innovative since we face very few external constraints.
- Core courses are crucial since they equip participants with the right knowledge, skills and attitudes for a successful managerial career. Hence an emphasis on core courses through a larger proportion of contact hours.
- Electives are based on personal choice / motivation, and hence the participant's propensity to work at a faster pace requires lesser faculty inputs while simultaneously covering the subject in greater depth and breadth.
- Efficiently utilizing the community resources to generate livelihoods;
- Strengthen the entrepreneurial skills of micro, small and not-for-profit enterprises;
- Capitalise on the unique strengths of local communities to create or expand business opportunities.
-
These premises have led to the evolution of a curriculum structure and individual course content which uniquely addresses the issue of diversity in batch profile as well as diversity in individual preference.
