EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Dr. S. Sankaranarayanan (sankrth@yahoo.com) is a B Tech from IIT Madras, an alumnus of IIMA and holds a Ph D from the Katz School of Business, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Shanky, as he is known to his close friends, has extensive industry experience with the Tata and Murugappa Groups in India, and with Biocompatibles in Farnham, UK and the Clarkson-Potomac Group in Durham, North Carolina.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Dr Sankaranarayanan’s academic career started with a teaching stint as Assistant Professor of Business at the University of Kansas. Subsequently he moved to the University of Pittsburgh and thence to the State University of New York at Albany. Currently he teaches at the Asian School of Business while continuing to be associated with the State University of New York.

Shanky’s areas of interest encompass capital markets and regulatory economics. He is a well-published author, having written on subjects as diverse as the effect of the 1962 Kefauver amendments on the pharmaceutical industry, on using quadratic programming for bank portfolio management and the application of capture theory in business regulation.

Dr Sankaranarayanan is a music aficionado, and blends his interests in Carnatic music with an interest in tennis, movies and travel.
